The problem was your wheels were turned so the steering column was under tension, which in turn puts pressure on the key cylinder. Turning the key while vigorously moving the wheel back and forth should have released it.

Inserted key and turned ignition. Engine cranked a normal speed but would not fire up. All the dash light were illuminating oddly. I think I picked up an entire actuator assembly for about $80 or $100. Took me about 2 hours to replace with some YouTube video help!

All dash lights except headlight/highbeam and the door ajar indicators should go out when the key is shut off.
